Jan Stephenson

Jan Stephenson was one of the most successful women golfer’s in the 1970s and 1980s. As a teenage amateur, Stephenson won five consecutive New South Wales Schoolgirl Championships in Australia from 1964. In 1973 she turned pro and was named Rookie of the Year. Stephenson went on to win 16 LPGA Tour Victories, including three Major Championships, in a career cut short through injury.
She went on to win on the Women’s Senior Golf Tour, a tour which she helped found, and in 2003, she became the first woman to play on the Champions Tour. She is currently among the few women in the course design business, and she is an honorary chairman of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
