On-Course Foundation
On Course Foundation:
The On Course Foundation has been created to offer injured Servicemen and women the opportunity to participate in golf and ultimately to provide employment within the golf and other related industries.
On Course will achieve this through providing a number of introductory and adaptive tuition days with specialised and accredited golf teaching professionals. In addition, members will concurrently receive vocational support, advice and be able to undertake short-term work placements within the industry.
On completion of the Programme and through the on-going support of the Foundation, members will have the skills and knowledge to potentially
find long-term employment in the golf industry.
The UK Foundation has the endorsement of the R&A and has HRH The Duke of York and Arnold Palmer as Patrons. Since launching at the Royal Household Golf Club at Windsor Castle in July 2010, On Course has recruited over 75 injured golfers, many of whom are brand new to golf. In addition, On Course has secured full-time employment for five injured ex-Servicemen in the golf industry and currently has several other members who are currently undertaking work experience placements.
In December 2012, On Course will hold the inaugural Simpson Cup, a Ryder Cup style tournament between US and UK injured current and ex-Servicemen and women. This will take place at TPC Sawgrass, Florida from 2nd – 5th December 2012 and will alternate yearly between the US and UK. This competition will be used to launch On Course Foundation USA, when, in 2013, On Course USA will become one of the benefitting charities of the US PGA Tour initiative, Birdies for the Brave.
