Handa Japan Relief Fund

Following the largest earthquake in Japan’s history and the devastating tsunami which struck the country on 11 March 2011, ISPS (International Sports Promotion Society) and its Chairman Dr Handa, will be using the power of sport to help rebuild the lives and communities of those affected by the disaster through the recently established ISPS Handa Japan Relief Fund.

ISPS has committed to support the disaster relief in some of Japan’s worst hit areas and with a fundraising target of 15 million USD, the funds will be a great help to the communities of the most affected areas. The ISPS Handa Japan Relief Fund has gained support from ISPS ambassadors Ian Woosnam, Sam Torrance and Sandy Lyle as well as other high profile golfers, who have shown, and continue to show their dedication through fundraising initiatives and generous personal donations. They will also be showing their support at the ISPS Handa Senior Masters presented by The Stapleford Forum that will be taking place at Stapleford Park (3 June – 5 June) Where the focus is prominently on raising funds and awareness for the ISPS Handa Relief Fund.
Dr Handa, who is also an International Ambassador for the European Senior Tour, said:
“We are delighted with the work that all our Ambassadors are doing to help towards the ISPS Handa Japan Relief Fund. Their support is very much appreciated and will help us make great strides towards reaching our fundraising target”
To maximise fundraising potential ISPS will be harnessing their existing partnerships with golfing bodies around the world and are confident that with the support and goodwill of the golfing community they will be able to reach their target.
Sam Torrance, ISPS Ambassador and former European Ryder Cup Captain said 
"I was horrified to watch events unfolding in Japan back in March.  It was difficult to believe that was happening on our planet.   My heart went out to everyone in Japan as they are surely going to have a long and difficult road back to normality, and we should all do everything that we can to support them"

ISPS, established in 2006, supports charitable causes throughout the sporting world and is passionate in the belief that sport has a unique ability to do good for causes such as the ISPS Handa Japan Relief Fund. ISPS are grateful for the support and understanding they are receiving from the various golfing bodies and golfers they work closely with throughout the year.
